D1.1: Delivery options analysis framework
CodeZERO framework for the analysis of e-commerce last-mile delivery options consists of:
• A categorisation of delivery attributes according to four categories: demand, supply, context, and impact.
• A classification of the relevance of:
- Demand-side attributes by product type, customer type, and spatial context.
- Supply-side and context attributes by product type, retailer type, and spatial context, which is useful to highlight which attributes are particularly significant in each case and which ones are less or not important.
• Five matrices showing the interaction between:
- Demand-side and supply-side attributes
- Demand-side and context attributes
- Supply-side and context attributes
- Demand-side and impacts attributes
- Supply-side, context, and impacts attributes
The analysis of the interactions between attributes of different categories, based on experts’ judgment, is informative, especially considering that some attributes refer to organizational aspects (i.e., instruments in the hands of logistics operators, retailers, and local authorities) and others to consumers’ requirements (i.e., objectives to be pursued for customers’ satisfaction). Therefore, analyzing the interaction between demand-side and supply-side attributes, it is possible to identify which ones in the latter group should be involved when alternative options are designed aiming at objectives related to the demand-side attribute.
